I can't believe I haven't posted these yet. I was so lucky to make it in time to see this little guy be born, but I'm so thankful I got there, three minutes before he came into the world. It was a race against time. (I didn't hear my phone, and drove like a mad woman. You've never seen someone more determined.)
Steve and Kara used to live below me, and they are such a sweet couple. I was so excited when Kara asked me to do their birth story, and even more excited when she told me she was doing a natural birth, because I had never seen a natural birth before. Kara was such a trooper and glowed as a beautiful new mother. I was completely jealous of her.
Birth stories are still my absolute favorite things to shoot, because I do not think there is anything more beautiful. One day when my time comes I will definitely have a birth photographer to capture all of the sweet little moments that could be missed otherwise.

This
is probably one of my favorite photos I've ever taken. This was minutes
after little Hyrum was born. First moments with his daddy, looking out
at the brand new world and life that has been given to him. I don't know
what thoughts were going through Stephen's mind right here, but this photo
touched my heart, as I can only imagine the sense of responsibility and
love he was feeling.
